ജനീവ: ആഫ്രിക്കന്‍ വന്‍കരയുടെ ഭാഗമായ അമ്പത്തിനാല് രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ ഒരു ഡോസ് കോവിഡ് വാക്സിനെങ്കിലും ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത് 11 ശതമാനം പേര്‍ക്കു മാത്രം. രണ്ട് ഡോസ് വാക്സിന്‍ ലഭിച്ചതാവട്ടെ 7.2 ശതമാനം പേര്‍ക്ക് മാത്രമാണ്.

സമ്പന്നരാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ ബൂസ്ററര്‍ ഡോസ് എന്ന പേരില്‍ മൂന്നാം ഡോസ് നല്‍കിത്തുടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് ദരിദ്രരാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ ഏറെയുള്ള ആഫ്രിക്കയില്‍ ഈ അവസ്ഥ.

യൂറോപ്പിലും വടക്കേ അമേരിക്കയിലും 50 ശതമാനത്തിലേറെ പേരും പൂര്‍ണമായും വാക്സിന്‍ സ്വീകരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു. ആദ്യ ഡോസ് സ്വീകരിച്ചവര്‍ 60 ശതമാനത്തിലേറെയാണ്. ഏഷ്യന്‍ രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ രണ്ട് ഡോസും സ്വീകരിച്ചവര്‍ 50 ശതമാനത്തോളമാണ്.

ആഫ്രിക്കന്‍ വന്‍കരയില്‍ വാക്സിനേഷന്റെ അപര്യാപ്തതയാണ് പുതിയ കോവിഡ് വകഭേദങ്ങള്‍ക്കു കാരണമെന്നും ആശങ്ക.

22.7 കോടി ഡോസ് വാക്സിനാണ് ആഫ്രിക്കന്‍ രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ ഇതുവരെ വിതരണം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ ഇതുവരെ നല്‍കിയതിന്‍റെ 20 ശതമാനത്തിലും താഴെ മാത്രമാണിത്. യൂറോപ്പില്‍ മാത്രം ഇതുവരെ 90 കോടി ഡോസ് വാക്സിനും, യു.എസില്‍ 45 കോടി ഡോസ് വാക്സിനും നല്‍കിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു.
